Project: “Weather Dependent”
“Weather Dependent” is an ongoing series developed through direct collaboration between artist and environment.
Each work is produced en plein air on heavy 300g Saunders Waterford paper, where wind, rain, and sunlight act upon the material in real time, leaving physical traces shaped by specific and unrepeatable conditions. The works are then dried slowly indoors, allowing these elemental interactions to stabilize and become fixed within the surface.
The resulting works function as material records of duration, atmosphere, and site, where authorship is distributed between artist and environment, and each piece exists as a singular index of its making.
The Artist Book: Arctic Impressions
Deeply tied to this series is the book Arctic Impressions, which compiles and archives these direct elemental interactions. The publication functions as a tactile extension of the project, documenting the physical traces, shifting light, and material dialogue forged during prolonged immersion in the Arctic landscape. It serves as both a standalone art object and a comprehensive visual record of the Weather Dependent methodology under extreme environmental conditions.
Arctic Impressions is available for direct purchase here. For acquisition inquiries and availability regarding original paintings from the Weather Dependent series, please use the contact form.
Project: “The Abundance of Scarcity”
“The Abundance of Scarcity,” created in Vadsø, Norway, explores the role of limitation as a generative force.n this remote Arctic setting, the work embraces minimal resources to cultivate new ways of seeing, making, and responding to place.
The process is defined by a deep material gathering: harvesting raw matter directly from the subarctic environment—including soil, ash, charcoal, bone, shells, and lichen—and hand-processing them into site-specific pigments using both traditional and improvised techniques. Binders, such as natural glues, are chosen entirely based on local environmental constraints and desired surface effects.
By treating scarcity not as a deficit but as an active collaborator, each work on paper becomes a physical distillation of the Arctic landscape—a testament to what can be built when we rely purely on the immediate geography.

Executed in acrylic on heavy 300g Saunders Waterford paper, the series builds on a deliberate method of color blocking and layered composition. Moving into the interiority of the studio, these works explore structural relationships, depth, and spatial boundaries. By carefully building up layers of flat color, each piece becomes a tactile visual negotiation of proximity, restraint, and the quiet internal logic of form—where every new layer negotiates its boundary with the surface hidden beneath it.

”Project: “Superposition”
“Superposition” was developed from conditions of distance and altered collective experience.Executed in acrylic on heavy 300g Saunders Waterford paper, the series builds on a deliberate method of color blocking and layered composition.
